A walk through Altstadt is a journey into the past. Narrow streets, colorful houses, and the spires of churches, such as Grossmünster, which dates back to the 12th century, create the atmosphere of old Europe. It’s said that Charlemagne himself chose this spot for the church, and good reason, as the view from here is mesmerizing. There are also hidden courtyards known only to locals.
📍 Wowtographer Tip: The best time for a photoshoot is in the morning when the first rays of sunlight illuminate the stone walls, and there are almost no tourists. Take photos by the Münsterbrücke bridge or along the Limmat River. The panorama of the old town and the water will add depth to your shots. In the summer, bring a bright umbrella or a light scarf for extra flair. Admission is free, but climbing the Grossmünster tower costs about 5 francs. Come on a weekday before 10 AM, fewer people and perfect lighting. Want a unique angle? Head to the rooftop of a café that not many people capture this view from.
